Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following an attempted ram raid at a tobacco shop in Springvale early this morning.

It is believed unknown offenders reversed a vehicle through a shop front on Balmoral Avenue about 4.20am.

The shop front was damaged however the offenders did not gain access and drove away from the scene empty-handed.

It is believed the offenders were driving a light-blue coloured sedan.

Investigators are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone that may have been in the area at the time.
