Man. United, who last won the League Cup in 2017, needed a 5-3 penalty shoot-out victory over third tier Rochdale to limp through after a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
Last season’s runners-up Chelsea hammered Grimsby 7-1.
Southampton will travel to title holders Manchester City after taking a win at local rivals Portsmouth.
Other two all-Premier League ties in the fourth round will feature Everton vs. Watford and Aston Villa vs. Wolves.
Leicester will travel to Burton. In an all-League One clash, Oxford will host Sunderland.
