Following the conclusion of the EU-Mercosur trade agreement, Phil Hogan, Commissioner for Agriculture, announced that a EUR 1 billion compensation fund has been set up for the agricultural sectors most affected by the agreement. The Commission has also confirmed that an impact assessment on the agreement is being prepared. However, this has still not been made public despite repeated requests from Parliament.

1. Is the Commission able to provide additional information on how the compensation fund will operate and can it say which budget item will be used to finance it?

2. When does the Commission plan to share with Parliament the impact assessment that it has supposedly undertaken to assess the scope of the agreement?

3. Does the Commission plan to carry out additional impact assessments for each sector and for each country prior to the entry into force of the agreement, thus allowing Parliament to assess the real extent of the agreement on Mediterranean agriculture with actual figures and data?
