Today in Smolensk to commemorate the 76th anniversary of liberation from Nazi invaders took place the solemn ceremony of opening the monument to warriors-to railwaymen, defending and restoring the city during the great Patriotic war.

The initiators and the opening of the monument are the soldiers of the Warsaw order of Kutuzov of II degree, the order of the red star separate railway brigade of the Western military district. The ceremony was attended by the inmates of the brigade of the detachment of Unirii, as well as veterans, residents and guests of Smolensk.

The sculptural composition in the form of a military echelon topped with a red star set in the square near the railway station building in memory of the exploits of soldiers and officers of the 1st, 6th, and 26 th separate railway brigades. Warriors railroad in 1941 was carried out by the boom and technical cover of the Railways, and in 1943, restored railway communication and transport hub in the Smolensk region.
