Celebrate Workforce Development Month
Partnership with businesses brings donation for workforce training
Moore Norman Technology Center’s automotive service technology program recently received a new Toyota Corolla from Gulf States Toyota and Fowler Toyota.
The donation will allows students to practice repairs on a modern vehicle with the latest in automotive technology. They’ll get hands-on experience with Toyota Express Maintenance, which includes oil and filter change, tire rotation and brake, fluid and multipoint inspections.
The investment from Gulf States Toyota and Fowler Toyota is an example of the kind of partnerships the CareerTech System is making to ensure that we can provide the qualified workers that Oklahoma’s business and industry needs.

Oklahoma Department of CareerTech receives OBI Business of the Year honor
The Oklahoma Blood Institute recently named the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education its Business of the Year.
CareerTech received the honor during OBI’s 2019 Blood Thanks and Giving Banquet in Enid.
Adult basic education programs recognized at annual conference
Adult basic education providers met last week at the Oklahoma ABE State Conference, hosted in Norman by Oklahoma CareerTech.
Caddo Kiowa Technology Center and Chickasha Public Schools received awards for most instructional hours per student. Poteau Public Schools and Idabel Public Schools received awards for highest educational functioning level gains per student. Poteau Public Schools and Red River Technology Center received awards for the highest number of high school equivalency diplomas attained per student.
Also, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections was honored for Outstanding Overall Achievement.
In addition, participants attended sessions about math anxiety, algebraic concepts, reading skills, English as a second language, ABE pedagogy, high school equivalency diplomas and more.
Lieutenant governor tours CareerTech facility for high school students

Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell recently visited a construction program established by Tulsa Technology Center and Sand Springs Public Schools.
His visit to Charles Page High School was featured by KTUL in Tulsa.
