On 23 September 2019, nine members of the Committees for the Defence of the Republic, and specifically the Technical Response Team, were arrested in Catalonia, an autonomous region in Spain, on suspicion of planning to carry out attacks in the country on the second anniversary of the attempted coup d’état on 1 October 2017 and on the day on which a verdict on those accused thereof was due to be delivered by the Supreme Court. During the related police operation, explosive-making materials and maps of Guardia Civil barracks and other official buildings were also seized, all of which were handed over to the competent courts and authorities.

The prerequisites of Council Common Position 2001/931/CFSP having been met, will this group be included in the list of European terrorist organisations, thereby rendering Articles 2, 3 and 4 of this Common Position applicable?

Has Spain requested that the current list be extended to include this organisation (Decision (CFSP) 2019/1341)?
