Commissioner-designate for Economy Paolo Gentiloni will be heard by the ECON committee on 3 October from 09.00-12.00 in Brussels. The hearing is set to last three hours, during which the commissioner-designate will give an opening speech and then answer questions posed by committee members. On Wednesday 4 September from 10:30 to 13:00, ECON Members had an exchange of views with Christine Lagarde, candidate for the position of ECB President. The candidate made a brief introductory statement, followed by a questions and answers session with ECON Members. The ECB’s monetary policy and financial stability and supervision were the main topics of discussion. The Public Hearing of the candidate was followed by a vote at 18:00.

On 4 September 2019 from 9.00 – 10.15, ECON held a public hearing with the Chair of the Supervisory Board of the ECB, Mr Andrea Enria. This was the second public hearing in ECON this year with Mr Enria in the framework of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM).
Monetary Dialogue with ECB President, Mario Draghi – 23.09.18

On 23 September, ECON Members had an exchange of views with the President of the ECB on the monetary policy in the euro area. This was the last “Monetary Dialogue” in ECON for Mario Draghi, whose term of office will end next 31 October. Mr Draghi also made his final appearance in ECON as Chair of the European Systemic Risk Board.
New call for tender launched for the provision of expertise

The European Parliament is planning to conclude a maximum of 10 separate framework service contracts for the provision of expertise intended to support the work of its Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON). The deadline to send offers is 1 October 2019
