The London Assembly has welcomed the news that Prime Minister and former Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, will cooperate with its request for information on his relationship with Jennifer Arcuri.

On Tuesday, the Assembly requested clarification following claims in the Sunday Times newspaper. The Prime Minister was given 14 days to respond to the allegations, including the alleged non declaration of any relationships that could be a conflict of interest.

The letter from Len Duvall AM, Chair of the London Assembly Oversight Committee asks for:

  • Details and a timeline of all contact with Jennifer Arcuri including social, personal and professional during his period of office as Mayor of London

  • An explanation of how that alleged personal relationship was disclosed and taken into account in any and all dealings with the GLA and other parts of the GLA family

Len Duvall AM, Chair of the London Assembly Oversight Committee said:

“We await the answers to our questions and expect them to be full and detailed. Once we receive those answers, we will decide next steps.

“The former Mayor may suggest that we are barking up the wrong tree.  Misuse of public funds in relation to close friends is, however, a serious allegation.

“We hope that Boris does not beat around the bush in delivering those answers.”
