Derby City Council in conjunction Rolls-Royce and partners held a Job Fair to help promote vacancies in the engineering and manufacturing industry sectors.
Over 21 companies participated at this jobs fair on Thursday 26th September that was held at the Rolls-Royce Leisure Complex, showcasing more than 500 vacancies in the engineering and manufacturing sector.
The aim of the event was to provide access to find alternative employment for employees who have shown an interest in other local opportunities as a consequence of recent Rolls-Royce workforce transformation.
Over 125 affected delegates from Rolls-Royce attended this jobs fair. They were able to find out about local opportunities for jobs in the engineering sector and speak to employers from within the engineering and manufacturing sector who were looking to recruit.
Christine Tolley, Head of Human Resources of HydraForce Hydraulics Ltd shared her experience with employers on how Hydraforce proactively engaged with partners and developed programmes that helped to bridge the skills gap in the engineering sector. There were workshops that ran throughout the day for attendees to learn about the employability support and social/ financial benefits available and there was an opportunity to discover more about self-employment and alternative roles.
There were representatives from local engineering companies such as, Bombardier Transportation, Pattonair, QuEST Global Engineering, Expleo Engineering UK and many more who participated.

The event was organised in partnership with Rolls-Royce to support its employees with partners from Derby City Council, South Derbyshire District Council, The Department of Work and Pensions, The University of Derby, East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, Talent Retention Solutions, The Futures Group and Midlands Aerospace Alliance.
