Detectives from Moreland Crime Investigation Unit have charged a man following an aggravated burglary in Brunswick West earlier this morning.

The burglary took place at an address on Albion Road when the victim woke to see a man in her lounge room allegedly stealing various electronic items just before 4.30am.

The victim was not injured and contacted police as the man ran from the house.

Attending police conducted a patrol of the surrounding streets and intercepted an uber with a male passenger.

The passenger got out of the uber and ran from the scene, leaving some of his ill-gotten gains in the vehicle.

A further search resulted in police finding an 18-year-old Brunswick man hiding in a near-by school.

He has been charged with aggravated burglary and theft and bailed to attend the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 21 January 2020.
