In Russia every year there are fires on the balconies and loggias. According to statistics, in 2016 year, there have been 907 fires on the balconies and loggias, in 2017 – 1478, in 2018 1964, in 2019 with the start of the year has already happened a fire in 1823. The figure is growing annually. In the top five: Moscow – 211 cases in Saint Petersburg – 111, Moscow oblast – 104, Republic of Bashkortostan – 69, Chelyabinsk oblast – 62.

Over the past year the number of deaths from fires in the balcony made up of 12 people, 135 people were injured. 60% of cases – imprudence when Smoking, and 40% by launching firecrackers, use of grill, faulty wiring or electrical appliances.

Changes to the fire prevention Rules, namely the ban on open flames on the balcony and loggias, will help to reduce the number of fires, casualties and property losses. From 1 October it will be easier for victims to recover from those responsible for damage caused by careless handling of fire. The Ordinance does not prohibit Smoking on the balcony, but you must remember about the responsibility before the law, care, their safety and the safety of others.

To attract the attention of the population to such a serious problem and to remind you that fun and relaxation should not lead to casualties, EMERCOM of Russia is launching a nationwide campaign “don’t let an open flame on the balcony!”. Save your life and the lives of others!
