INTA committee heard the Commissioner-designate for international trade

On the 30 September members of the INTA committee have exercised their power of democratic scrutiny by holding a public hearing to question the Commissioner-designate Phil HOGAN on his general competence, European commitment and personal independence to become the next Commissioner for Trade. INTA members sought information on whether the Commissioner-designate can deliver on the various challenges EU trade and investment policy will be facing in the next five years.
2 October: Vietnam Free Trade agreement, EU-US relations and Australian delegation

INTA will hold a first exchange of views on Vietnam Free Trade agreement and Investment Protection agreement (INTA rapporteur Jan Zahradil (ECR)), which has been submitted to Parliament for its consent. The agreements with Vietnam are the first of its kind in terms of scope and ambition that the EU has ever negotiated with a developing country, and the second that the EU has negotiated with an ASEAN country (after Singapore).
