Today, 5 November, in Moscow on Troekurov cemetery unveiled a monument to the outstanding figure of the Civil Defense of the USSR and Russia, Dmitry Ivanovich Mikhailik.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of EMERCOM of Russia Pavel Baryshev, Alex Sirko, Nikolay Grechushkin and Viktor Azucena, as well as the personnel Department. Family, friends and co-workers, members of the Central Council of veterans of the EMERCOM of Russia recalled Dmitry Ivanovich as exceptionally strong and courageous man, a great teacher and a real hero.

The opening ceremony of the monument took place in the presence of the standard group of cadets of the Academy of civil protection. Flower-laying ceremony was accompanied by the musical composition “Song of the alarming youth” performed by the orchestra of EMERCOM of Russia.

Date of opening of the monument is chosen not casually, after all, today marked the 99th anniversary of the birth of Dmitry Ivanovich. During the great Patriotic war he progressed from platoon commander to commander of a rifle battalion participated in the defense of Leningrad, the blockade, the liberation of the Leningrad region from the German fascist invaders and other combat operations.

D. I. Mikhailik was the chief of Civil defense of the USSR, member of the Collegium of the Ministry of emergency measures of Russia and Military Council of rescue military units of the Ministry and Chairman of the Central Council of veterans of the EMERCOM of Russia.

Dmitry Ivanovich Mikhailik awarded 13 medals of the USSR and the Russian Federation, as well as more than 40 military, state, departmental and public awards.
