The newest missile submarine strategic purpose (SSBNs), “Prince Vladimir” project “Borey-A”, passing the test in the ranges of combat training of the Northern fleet successfully conducted a test torpedo firing at underwater targets in the White sea.

Target shooting was done by torpedo without a warhead.

Earlier, the crew of SSBN “Knyaz Vladimir” has carried out the first test launch of an Intercontinental ballistic missile of sea basing “Bulava” from the White sea to the landfill “Kura” on the Kamchatka Peninsula, and then test torpedo firing on surface targets.

The test firing provided a strength of Belomorskaya naval base of the Northern fleet.


SSBN “Knyaz Vladimir” built on improved project “Borey” and belongs to the 4th generation of underwater nuclear-powered ships designed for the Navy Russia.

From the first three “Bareev” — submarine “Yury Dolgoruky”, “Alexander Nevsky” and “Vladimir Monomakh” — “Prince Vladimir” is less noise, more sophisticated systems maneuvering and retain the depth as well as control arms.
