Note: This Flood Watch provides early advice of possible flooding within the specified catchments

Final Flood Watch for Upper Yarra, Bunyip, Latrobe and South Gippsland Rivers

Issued at 11:29 am EDT on Saturday 9 November 2019

Flood Watch Number: 5

A minor flood warning is current for the Bunyip River catchment. A minor warning will be issued for the Upper Yarra catchment around midday Saturday. Flooding is not expected for Latrobe nor South Gippsland.

A cold front crossed Victoria on Friday. Showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecast during Saturday.

Catchments are relatively wet following recent rainfall.

Rainfall totals of 10-20mm are forecast for the Upper Yarra, with isolated higher totals possible.

River rises have been observed in response to the rainfall.

Catchments no longer likely to be affected include:

Latrobe River

Traralgon Creek

South Gippsland Rivers

The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.

Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater, Never allow children to play in floodwater, Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain, Keep well clear of fallen power lines Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
