Located in Saint-Petersburg Military medical Museum of the defense Ministry said 77-th anniversary of creation.

Medical the Hermitage, as it is often called the Military-medical Museum of the Ministry of defense of the Russian Federation in Saint-Petersburg, was founded in November 1942. The decision on the establishment of a Museum in the midst of the great Patriotic war was taken by chance: there is an urgent need to gain and understanding of the experience of war, traditions of Russian military medicine. Today, the Museum is the only medical Museum of Federal significance.

Military medical Museum of the Ministry of defense of the Russian Federation holds more than 450 thousand unique exhibits depicting the main stages of formation and development of Russian medicine and the contribution of its outstanding representatives in the world of science: works of art, collections of medical instruments, pharmaceuticals, uniform for civil and military physicians, the subjects of military-medical supply orders, atlases, medical books and more than 300 personal funds of prominent figures of medicine and science, including the V. M. Bekhterev, S. P. Botkin, I. I. Mechnikov, I. P. Pavlov, N. And. Pirogov, I. M. Sechenov, etc., as well as an extensive photo library.
