Police clarify stampede rumour during operation in Yau Ma Tei on November 18
****************************************************************************

There were online rumours that stampede occurred during the operation in Yau Ma Tei on November 18, resulting in mass injuries. Police clarify that no stampede occurred during the period.     In fact, thousands of rioters hurled bricks and petrol bombs at Police officers at that time, and the situation was pressing. Police conducted dispersal operation after reinforcement, and a number of fleeing rioters fell down on Pitt Street near Yau Ma Tei MTR Exit. Police swiftly controlled the scene and arrested 213 persons, 30 of them claimed to be sick and were sent to hospital. The situation at scene does not match with the stampede rumour.
