The Department of Home Affairs has released October 2019 international student visa data. Student visa grants are up 7 per cent in YTD October compared to last year.
Key results, for YTD primary student visas granted, include:
Onshore grants grew at a faster rate (17.2 per cent) than offshore grants (0.3 per cent), with onshore accounting for 43.2 per cent of visas granted YTD October
VET experienced the greatest growth (7.9 per cent), followed by higher education (7.6 per cent), independent ELICOS (7 per cent), non-award (2.6 per cent) and schools (0.5 per cent).
Only the postgraduate research sector experienced declines, down by just 0.1 per cent.
Of the top 25 markets, 16 experienced increases. The three fastest growing marketing were the Philippines (up 84.7 per cent), Saudi Arabia (52 per cent) and Sri Lanka (24.9 per cent).
