Fancy testing out your business ideas? Gloucester Green Market will offer free stalls for 15 small businesses from Oxford on Small Business Saturday.

The market, which is run by LSD Promotions on behalf of Oxford City Council, will provide up to 15 spaces for small businesses on Saturday 7 December 2019.

Businesses will receive a free space – measuring three metres by three metres – on a stall provided by LSD Promotions. Traders will only need to bring their wares.

The offer, which will be run on a first-come-first-serve basis, is open to anyone who runs a small business in Oxford providing food, drink or retail.

Anyone interested in the offer should contact LSD Promotions by calling 01384 877336 or emailing [email protected] before Thursday 5 December.

Alongside supporting Small Business Saturday, the offer aims to provide Oxford’s small businesses with the opportunity to test their business in the market.

The hope is that this could encourage the businesses to take up a permanent stall in Gloucester Green Market in the future – and then maybe take a stall in the Covered Market if they continue to grow.

Oxford City Council has also let a unit in the Covered Market to Independent Oxford to act as a space to nurture small businesses. The unit features a collection of 20 independent and local businesses.

Small Business Saturday highlights small business success, and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.

The annual awareness day takes place on the first Saturday in December. This year it is taking place on Saturday 7 December.

“Gloucester Green Market is proud to support Small Business Saturday. The market provides a trading platform for more than 100 small businesses in Oxford city centre, including many start-ups.”

Dermot McGillicuddy, Director of LSD Promotions

“Small businesses are a huge part of what makes Oxford city centre such an attractive place to shop, live, work, study and visit, so we’re delighted that LSD Promotions is providing this offer for Small Business Saturday.

“The offer fits neatly with what we are doing in the Covered Market and with meanwhile use space, and the hope is we can create a pipeline of small businesses that, with our support, can be nurtured to grow and become permanent city centre retailers of the future.”
