Oceanographic research vessel (OIC) “Admiral Vladimirsky” left Kronstadt, launching a large-scale round-the-world expedition of the Navy (Navy) of Russia, devoted to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica and the 250th anniversary of the birth of Admiral Ivan Kruzenshtern. As reported by the chief of the Russian Navy Admiral Nikolai Evmenov ahead of the OIC “Admiral Vladimir” from Kronstadt, conducting round-the-world Oceanographic expedition, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica and the 250th anniversary of the birth of Admiral Ivan Kruzenshtern, was planned and organized in accordance with the decision of the Minister of defence of the Russian Federation army General Sergei Shoigu.

In the expedition involved several Oceanographic and hydrographic ships of the Navy, which will be held tens of thousands of nautical miles on the approved routes. The route is planned so that the day of the opening of Antarctica on January 28 OIC “Admiral Vladimir” and the OIC “amber” arrived to the Russian Antarctic station “Bellingshausen”, where, together with the staff of the station held commemorative events. The expedition is carried out in close cooperation with the Russian geographical society.

In accordance with the international obligations of the Russian Federation for creating and maintaining at the modern level of international navigational charts in the course of the expedition provided for the implementation of hydrographic works in the Bellingshausen sea, materials which will allow you to republish the Russian nautical map INT9172 edition 1998, materials routing survey will be used to Refine information on nautical maps of the seas and oceans.
