* Malaysia will promote the principle of shared prosperity when taking over the chairmanship of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2020, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said Wednesday.

* Indonesia’s inflation this year has been forecast to be subdued, giving opportunity to the monetary policy maker to further apply economic stimulus. Indonesia’s Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said Tuesday (December 3) that she forecast the consumer price index will go below 3.5 percent at year end, which remains in the target range of the Indonesian central bank of 2.5 to 4.5 percent.

* The ruling party of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korean (DPRK) has decided to hold new sessions to “discuss and decide on crucial issues in line with the needs of the development of the Korean revolution and the changed situation at home and abroad,” official media reported Wednesday.

* Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed in Baku on Tuesday the importance of resuming people-to-people contacts for solving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He stressed that Moscow and Baku saw an opportunity for compromise in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

* Turkey repatriated five foreign terrorists to Germany on Tuesday, Turkish Interior Ministry said in a statement. Turkey has killed 3,500 IS terrorists and detained 5,500 others in its anti-terror operations at home and abroad in recent years, the Anadolu report said.

* The Democrat-led House Intelligence Committee voted on Tuesday along party lines to adopt a report summarizing its findings from an ongoing impeachment inquiry against US President Donald Trump.

* Egypt said Tuesday that a new trilateral meeting on the disputed Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) will be held in Washington on December 9. Irrigation ministers of Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan will attend the meeting to evaluate the results of the first and second rounds of talks on the dam, the Egyptian Ministry of Irrigation said in a statement.

* Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation with the newly appointed President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen to discuss cooperation, the Ukrainian presidential press service said Tuesday.

* New protests erupted in Lebanon on Tuesday following caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s announcement to support businessman Samir Khatib to be the next prime minister.

* Heavy clashes erupted Monday in south of the Libyan capital Tripoli between forces of the UN-backed government and the eastern-based army, causing civilian and military casualties.

* Serbia and Belarus should aim to strengthen economic ties building upon their excellent political cooperation, the presidents of the two countries agreed at their meeting in Belgrade on Tuesday.
