The Republic of France has issued the following statement:

Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will convene a Strategic Export Council on December 12, which will be attended by the regional presidents and their representatives as well as the public and private stakeholders involved in foreign trade.

The Strategic Export Council will review progress on the implementation of the reform of the foreign trade sector, spearheaded by an unprecedented partnership between the government and the regions, and will allow us to outline prospects for 2020.

Since the launch of the foreign trade reform process by the prime minister in Roubaix in February 2018, a new “Team France Export” has been established in all metropolitan areas to enable firms to expand more easily into global markets and to capitalize on international trade opportunities. 235 international advisers located all over the country are now working under the “Team France Export” banner in order to identify firms and facilitate their expansion into international markets. They also rely on the innovative digital tools rolled out in 2019 to facilitate access by SMEs to the support solutions offered in each region. In other parts of the world, Business France has forged new strategic partnerships adapted to local contexts so that French firms can benefit from support – and additional services -, through public and private operators, in more markets. “Team France Export” will therefore be present in more than 100 countries by 2022.

The Strategic Export Council will also discuss the reform of public tools aimed at providing export financing support as well as the challenges posed by competitiveness and industry structure for the development of our foreign trade.
