Aggravated burglary case in Kwun Tong reclassified as murder and aggravated burglary

     Police yesterday (December 14) reclassified an aggravated burglary case in Kwun Tong on December 11 as murder and aggravated burglary.     In the small hours of December 11, Police received a report that a 65-year-old man was found injured and collapsed at a staircase of a building on Hoi Yuen Road, Kwun Tong.     Police officers sped to the scene. The 65-year-old man, sustaining head injuries, was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state for treatment. Initial investigations reveal that a restaurant at scene was suspected to be burgled of around $50,000 cash, during which the man was suspected of being assaulted.     The man was certified dead at 6.51am yesterday.     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted on the deceased to ascertain the cause of death.     Active investigation by the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon East is underway.
