A total of 57 prizes, including 5 ‘A’, 10 ‘B’, 15 ‘C’, and 25 consolation prizes, were presented to the best entries in the contest. Nhan Dan Newspaper reporters recieved one ‘B’, one ‘C’ and one consolation prize at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the winning works were the epitome of political thinking, enthusiasm, intellect and conscience, showing the high level of social responsibility of journalists for the country, people, and the Party.

The Government leader emphasised the special significance of 2020, which will mark the 90th founding anniversary of the Party and 75 years of the country’s independence, and urged the Vietnam Revolutionary Press to continue to promote its important role as the voice of the Party, State and political, social and professional organizations, and as a reliable forum for the people.

The press must also fight hostile forces and misrepresentations, the PM said, adding that he hopes the press will continue contributing to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation as well as striving to realise the aspiration of building a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

The fourth “Bua Liem Vang” Press Awards 2019 were launched nine months ago by the Party Central Committee’s (PCC) Organisation Commission, Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, the Communist Review, the Vietnam Television, and the Vietnam Journalists’ Association.

The organising board received over 1,660 submissions across categories covering print and online media, radio and television works, and photojournalism from journalists, reporters, Party members, and public servants across the country.

This year, “Bua Liem Vang” included two additional awards, for the best work on the protection of the Party’s ideological foundation and for the best work by an overseas Vietnamese author.

Journalist Ha Dang, former member of the Party Central Committee, former head of the PCC Commission for Ideology and Culture, and former Editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, was also honoured by the Organizing Committee as a typical journalist who made great contributions to the communication work on Party building.
