Today we had the opportunity, in the context of the Conference, to talk about multilateralism in international security, which is a very interesting subject, especially in view of the new global challenges.

And I must say that the conference opened with a very inspired speech by the German President, Mr. Steinmeier.

Beyond that, there were a number of bilateral meetings, first of all with the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lavrov, with Mr. Dimitrov, with the Mongolian Minister of Foreign Affairs, with whom two agreements were signed, with the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group Deputy Chairman in the Bundestag, with the Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, with the co-Chair of the German Greens Party, and with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait.

I think it was a long day, but a day that gave us the opportunity to explain to a large number of our interlocutors the special situation we are facing in the Mediterranean and the problems Turkey’s stance has created in Libya and in the Eastern Mediterranean in general.
