More than 35 firefighters worked to extinguish a blaze that took hold of a building in Sunshine early Saturday morning.
Initial crews arrived to the property on Wright Street just before 2am and escalated the response after being met with flames and smoke issuing from the top floor.
Firefighters quickly donned in breathing apparatus and made their way to the fifth floor where the fire was located in an overhead conveyor belt spanning approximately 50 metres. Multiple seats of fire were also found throughout the upper levels of the building.
The incident was declared under control at 2:52am, less than an hour after the first Triple Zero ‘000’ call.
The building was unoccupied at the time and there were no reports of injury.
At the height of the fire 18 appliances were on scene, including 10 pumpers, a rescue unit, one aerial teleboom, a ladder platform and two Command units.
At this stage it’s not known what caused the fire to start.
