More than 2 thousand servicemen of engineering and sapper units and subunits of the NBC defense of the Central Military District (CVD) used Meteor demining installations and Solntsepek heavy flamethrower systems during the final draw of the largest exercise of the two combined-arms armies at the training ground near Orenburg.

In the course of practical actions, the servicemen conducted engineering reconnaissance of the main routes of the convoy’s movement, using selective mine detectors IMPS-2. Then the calculations of the UR-77 “Meteor” installations carried out remote demining of areas of the terrain. After shooting demining charges, the servicemen provided the moving troops with safe passageways up to 100 meters deep and up to 6 meters wide.

At the same time, operating from closed firing positions, the specialists of the TOS-1A “Solntsepek” crews worked out the creation of a continuous moving line of dense fire impact on the positions of the defending enemy. The calculations of the TOS-1A “Solntsepek” pinned down the simulated enemy in a maneuver with volley fire and demoralized his manpower, using 220 mm rockets in thermobaric equipment.

Also, the groupings of NBC protection troops and engineering units worked out the joint task of creating a “firewall” consisting of anti-tank mines and incendiary bombs. The burning mass of incendiary means prevented the effective use of technology, communications and control of the conditional enemy, and also demoralized his manpower.

In total, more than 200 pieces of equipment from the park of engineering-sapper units and RCB protection units were involved in practical actions.

The main practical stage of troop operations is under the direction of the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin.

This year’s largest bilateral exercise of the 41st combined-arms and 2nd Guards combined-arms armies of the Central Military District (CVD) with the participation of more than 12 thousand servicemen and 3 thousand units of military equipment is held from 10 to 14 August at four training grounds in Siberia and the Volga region.

Motorized rifle, tank subunits, groupings of missile forces and artillery, air defense, operational-tactical and army aviation, radiation, chemical and biological protection, electronic warfare, logistics, as well as calculations of unmanned aerial vehicle complexes are involved in practicing joint practical actions ” Outpost “,” Orlan-10 “and” Eleron “.
