The University of Aberdeen has been named 3rd in Scotland, 25th in the UK and within the top 200 in the world in the Times Higher Education World University rankings 2021The University of Aberdeen has retained its place in the extremely competitive world top 200 according to the Times Higher Education World University rankings 2021.
Aberdeen is ranked 178th in the world, 25th in the UK and one of three Scottish universities within the top 200 in the world.
Of the five broad categories on which the rankings are based, the University scored highest in ‘International Outlook’ for which it was ranked 32nd in the world.

“Aberdeen has shown a consistently strong performance in recent years in its ‘International Outlook’ and we are pleased to be recognised in 32nd place in the world, reflecting our strong international profile in teaching and research. We also continue to show a very strong performance in the area of citation impact, demonstrating the strong global impact of our research.
“In February this year we launched our strategy for the next 20 years, Aberdeen 2040. As part of this strategy we have appointed 50 new high-profile academic staff through our strategic investment fund. We are confident that this significant investment, along with the many new initiatives we are launching as part of Aberdeen 2040, will further strengthen the University’s reputation and cement our position in the top 200 in the world.”
