The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) today (September 18) distributed face masks and disinfectant hand sanitisers to recycling and refuse collection trade associations for their members’ distribution to frontline practitioners to support their work and thank them for standing ready to fight the epidemic.     Every day, recycling and refuse collection trade practitioners collect and handle different recyclable materials or waste from various districts in Hong Kong, making a contribution to environmental protection and hygiene. As the epidemic situation of coronavirus disease 2019 in Hong Kong continues, the relevant trade practitioners need to replenish personal hygiene protective equipment such as face masks and disinfectant hand sanitisers to minimise the risk of infection and spreading of the virus.     To cope with current challenges, the EPD distributed a total of 240 000 face masks and 4 800 bottles of disinfectant hand sanitisers to eight relevant trade associations, reminding the frontline practitioners to maintain good hygiene practices and to fight the epidemic together.
