The event took place from 22 to 24 September as part of the preparation of the Centrospas squad for international recertification according to the methodology of the UN Consultative Group on Search and Rescue (INSARAG). The delegation visited the complex of buildings of the Centrospas detachment, the training ground of the Noginsk Rescue Center and the National Crisis Management Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
The French colleagues highly appreciated the level of readiness of the departments of the Ministry, noted the wide range of activities and the unique experience of conducting search and rescue operations, both in Russia and abroad. As a result of joint work, recommendations were developed for further improving the detachment’s activities in such areas as professional training of rescuers, equipping with modern equipment and coordinating international response.
The international certification of the Centrospas detachment for compliance with the high standards of the United Nations took place in 2011, the first recertification was successfully completed in 2016, the next recertification is scheduled for 2022.
According to the INSARAG methodology, the preparation of the search and rescue team for international certification is carried out with the methodological support of mentors from the most experienced certified international rescue units. The French search and rescue service is one of the most developed in Europe and the world and invariably demonstrates its high professionalism in responding to various types of emergencies. In August of this year, in Lebanon, Russian Emergencies Ministry rescuers worked shoulder to shoulder with colleagues from the French Ministry of Internal Affairs while searching for the dead under the rubble of buildings destroyed by an explosion in the port of Beirut.
In the coming years, INSARAG cooperation between Russian and French rescuers will be strengthened, which will undoubtedly serve as a good basis for exchanging experience and increasing the preparedness of both countries to provide assistance to people affected by disasters anywhere in the world.
