Servicemen of the Novorossiysk mountain formation of the Airborne Forces, with the support of Mi-28 attack helicopters, artillery and tanks, repulsed an attack by a mock enemy amphibious assault from the Black Sea as part of the Kavkaz-2020 strategic exercise.

According to the scenario of the exercise, a simulated enemy amphibious assault brigade, concentrated in the Black Sea, made an attempt to land on the coast and hold the bridgehead for further offensive operations.

To destroy the enemy’s forward subunits, Su-27 planes and Mi-28 attack helicopters were raised into the air, which struck at the control points and landing assets of the simulated enemy.

At this time, the reconnaissance units of the Airborne Forces using Orlan-10 drones discovered the exact location of the enemy. To destroy the landing force, antiamphibious groups were sent, for the transfer of which four Mi-8 helicopters were involved under the cover of Mi-28 attack helicopters.

A self-propelled artillery battery of the airborne assault regiment, armed with 122-mm D-30 howitzers and 2S9 Nona-S self-propelled artillery guns, was used to set a stationary barrage fire. Under cover of artillery fire, a tank company on T-72 B3 tanks was also withdrawn to the firing line.

At the final stage of the training episode, after creating conditions for a counterattack, paratroopers, under the cover of artillery fire, forced a crossing of the water barrier and destroyed the remaining forces of the simulated enemy.
