About 1,700 servicemen of the 1st Army of the Special Purpose Air and Missile Defense of the Aerospace Forces will take up combat duty on New Year’s Eve.

Combat crews of the formation will serve in anti-aircraft missile troops, at radar stations of RTV units, command posts and command posts of formations and military units.

In total, during the New Year holidays, more than 18.5 thousand servicemen of the air defense-missile defense association of the Aerospace Forces will be involved in air defense combat duty.

In 2020, more than 200 combat training events, including tactical exercises with live firing, were held in the management of the army, subordinate formations and military units.

In addition, the military personnel of the association carried out a number of test launches of a new missile of the Russian anti-missile defense (ABM) system, during which the new anti-missile system reliably confirmed the inherent characteristics, and the combat crews successfully completed the task, hitting a conditional target with a given accuracy.

The anti-missile defense system is in service with the Aerospace Forces and is designed to protect against attacks from aerospace attack weapons.

The air defense forces of the Aerospace Forces are entrusted with the task of combining air defense and anti-missile defense of a special purpose in Moscow and the central industrial region of the country.
