On the eve of the New Year holidays, cases have become more frequent when unregistered tourist groups, overcoming the route, got lost in the mountainous terrain due to the complexity of the route, unfavorable weather conditions or the group’s unpreparedness regarding safety rules during the hike.

So, on December 16, two tourists were lost on the territory of the Republic of Crimea. They descended the Sokol Mountain without special equipment, in the dark they lost their way off the main path and got lost. The help of rescuers was required.

Upon arrival, the rescuers established telephone and visual contact using flashlights. Employees of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Crimea found the victims on a rocky area opposite the Shaitan-Dere gorge, in the area of the Devil’s Finger cliff, and lowered them to a safe place with the help of climbing equipment. Young people did not need medical help. At the end of the rescue work, a preventive and explanatory conversation about the mandatory registration of tourist groups was held with the tourists.

On December 22, two men were lost on the territory of the Republic of Khakassia. They decided to go jogging around the Borus ridge in the Shushensky Bor nature park. The men lost their way and got lost, but found a place of stable reception of the cellular network and were able to call for help. The search for men was carried out by rescuers of the department and volunteers for several hours and ended in the morning. Fortunately, the rescue operation ended well.

In general, Kabardino-Balkaria holds the record for the number of tourists on the routes across the country. Since the beginning of the year, 133 search and rescue operations have been carried out here and 137 tourists have been rescued. In total, during this period, 1533 registered groups passed along the routes of the Republic, this is more than 10 thousand tourists and climbers, including 12 foreign groups.

In the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, in the outgoing year, the rescuers of the EMERCOM of Russia in the region carried out 116 rescue and other urgent operations, rescuing 98 people.

During the winter period of last year, employees of the YRPSO and its branches carried out 76 search and rescue operations in mountainous forest areas, mainly in the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Adygea.

EMERCOM of Russia draws special attention to the fact that in order to avoid emergency situations, tourist groups should register 10 days before the start of the trip and inform the rescue units about the route of their movement. The application for registration of groups is submitted through a special online form on the official websites of the territorial bodies of the EMERCOM of Russia. And also – by post, e-mail or by phone, contacting the department at the place of the planned trip. Rescuers should be informed about routes that pose a high level of risk to human life and health.

When submitting an online application for registration, it is necessary to indicate the composition and number of participants, managers, contact numbers, detailed information about the route, the date of departure and return, dangerous points of the route and other information. The responsible officer of the department in the constituent entity of the Russian Federation is obliged to process the application within one working day, and then transfer the information to the rescue unit in whose area of responsibility the route is planned.
