The Pesochnoe training center hosted the opening ceremony of the 8th Spartakiad of the RCB troops for the protection of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The start of the competition was given by Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, Chief of the NBC Defense Troops of the RF Armed Forces. He greeted the participants of the competition and noted that the Olympics for many years has been the main event in the sports life of the military personnel of the NBC defense and gives an additional impetus to the development of their physical fitness.
Honored Master of Sports of Russia, Olympic champion Lilihamera in speed skating Alexander Golubev addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, who wished all athletes a fair fight and victory.
The program of the competition included sports disciplines: cross-country skiing, team relay 4×5 km, military biathlon, universal combat. The servicemen will hold tournaments in standard service weapons (AK-1) and practical army shooting tournaments.
These sports help the military personnel of the RCB protection troops develop the skills and abilities necessary for the army service.
In total, 20 teams from formations and military units of central subordination, military districts and the Northern Fleet arrived to participate in competitions in Kostroma. The best NBC protection athletes will compete for the Cup of the Chief of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops of the RF Armed Forces, which is more than 200 servicemen.
Cross-country skiing opened the sports day.
Guests at the Military Academy were greeted according to the old Russian tradition – with bread and salt and songs. The Kostroma ensemble “Volga-Volga” performed before the audience. The Military Band of the Academy and cadets also presented their program. Interactive platforms functioned for everyone.
The results of the Olympics will be announced on February 10, and the winners will be awarded on the same day.
