In Novorossiysk, within the framework of the Beskozyrka campaign, veterans of the Council of Public Organizations of Veterans of the Navy took part in an international videoconference dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the Day of the Landing of the Navy on Malaya Zemlya.

During the event, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, together with the participants of the videoconference, recalled the feat of the sailors from the detachment of the legendary Caesar Kunikov.

Under his command, on the night of February 3 to 4, 1943, a landing party, consisting of only 275 marines, landed in Tsemesskaya Bay. Landing ships went to Tsemesskaya Bay through ice, waves and Nord-Ost. In the reflections of the explosions, people stormed the shore under fire to free the land from the invaders. Thus began the legendary battle that lasted 225 days and nights.

The all-Russian action “Beskozyrka” is held annually in the hero-city of Novorossiysk. This year the event was held without a large-scale procession. Traditionally, in memory of the feat, heroism and courage of the defenders, a sailor’s headdress – a peakless cap – was lowered into the water.
