The Altai Republic will receive federal funding to solve environmental problems on the territory of the Aktash mining and metallurgical plant. The changes necessary for this were introduced by the Chairman of the Government Mikhail Mishustin into the individual program for the development of the region.
The negative situation on the territory of the enterprise is associated with the half-century processing of the mercury deposit. During this time, tons of toxic substances and other heavy metals have accumulated here, which must be disposed of.
In 2021, 115 million rubles will be allocated for the development of a project to eliminate accumulated harm from the federal budget, and more than 1 million rubles will come from the regional budget. This money has already been provided for the regional development program and will be redistributed from other facilities.
The amount of further funding will be determined after the development of the project and the receipt of a positive conclusion of the state and environmental expertise. The Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the government of the republic will be responsible for this work.
Among other changes made to the program, there is an increase in funding for the construction of transport and communal infrastructure facilities, as well as for the creation of a regional industrial development fund. Funds for this will be redistributed within the program.
The Altai Republic is one of the ten regions with the most difficult economic situation. Individual programs of socio-economic development have been developed for such territories. For each of them, 1 billion rubles are annually allocated from the federal budget. The money is spent on solving specific problems – increasing the income of the population, creating new jobs, developing health care and education, improving the environmental situation, building social, transport and engineering infrastructure.
At meetings of the Government and meetings with Deputy Prime Ministers, Mikhail Mishustin has repeatedly called on his colleagues to monitor the efficiency of spending budget funds allocated for these programs.
