In preparation for the Airborne Forces Ice Hockey Championship for the Airborne Forces Commander’s Cup, which starts on February 15 of this year, the hockey team of the Novorossiysk Guards Airborne Assault Mountain Formation held a friendly match with the team of the Stavropol Presidential Cadet School (SPKU), which took place at ice hockey rink of the SPKU indoor ice rink.

The symbolic throw-in of the puck was made by the head of the SPKU, Colonel Oleg Stepanchuk, who was also the chief referee of the hockey match.

Despite the restrictions on attending sports events, the few fans from the school staff and the personnel of the Stavropol Guards Airborne Assault Caucasian Cossack Regiment, admitted to the match, after all the necessary anti-epidemiological measures, warmly supported both their team and the team of guests that they loved during the meeting.

The team of Novorossiysk paratroopers won in a stubborn and tense struggle. The hosts were the first to open the score, but the paratroopers were not long in coming, scoring a return puck into the cadets’ goal. Taking the initiative into their own hands, the hockey players of the Guards airborne unit brought the game to victory. A few seconds before the end of the match, the gates of the cadet team remained empty, but the cadets did not manage to score, playing with six. The players of both teams showed an interesting and well-coordinated game.

At the end of the match, its best players were determined. In the team of the Novorossiysk Airborne Forces, the guard was recognized as the best soldier Venamin Kokosyan, in the team of cadets the award was given to the goalkeeper, Savely Poptsov.
