Artillery crews of the combined-arms army of the Western Military District (ZVO) have begun tactical exercises with live fire in the Voronezh region.
The artillery divisions, equipped with the latest weapons, have completed a theoretical training course and will perform practical firing with a standard 152-mm projectile at the new Krinitsa training ground.
The main feature of practicing practical skills during the exercise will be to adjust the fire using remote weapon control.
Shooting in automatic mode will be carried out with direct fire without visible referencing on the ground. The howitzers are equipped with automatic targeting systems using an ultra-precise coordinate system and allow firing and adjusting fire using remote control.
The deep modernization of the military equipment fleet of the army’s artillery units made it possible to strengthen the combat capabilities of the formation, and also created new opportunities for motorized rifle and tank units to include artillery crews in the reconnaissance and strike contour during joint tactical exercises and exercises.
In total, over 500 servicemen of artillery units deployed in the Moscow, Voronezh and Bryansk regions were involved in the exercise.
The Msta-S-M2 self-propelled howitzer is designed to destroy artillery and mortar batteries, armored vehicles, anti-aircraft and missile defense systems, anti-tank weapons, and enemy manpower.
The basis of the Msta-S-M2’s firepower is the 152mm 2A65 gun with a rate of fire of more than 10 rounds per minute, which is higher than the rate of fire of other artillery systems. Such indicators were achieved thanks to the modernized design of the loading mechanisms.
