An outstanding poet and translator, one of the founders of Russian romanticism, Vasily Andreevich Zhukovsky was born on February 9, 1783. Privy Councilor and author of the words of the national anthem of the Russian Empire, a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, he was a literary mentor and friend of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, as well as a reformer of Russian poetry.
He began his literary career as a student at the Moscow University Noble Boarding School. He penned the ballads Lyudmila, Svetlana and others, as well as the classic translations of Homer’s Odyssey, the ballad The Waterman by Friedrich Schiller, and the rural cemetery elegy by Thomas Gray.
Schoolchildren can get acquainted with the biography and work of Vasily Zhukovsky by completing assignments in the library of the Moscow Electronic School.
Lesson script “V.A. Zhukovsky. Biography pages. Fairy tales. Literature lesson”dedicated to the life of the poet. It is designed for high school students. Here you can take part in an interactive quiz and complete an assignment in PISA format. First, students will watch a video dedicated to Vasily Zhukovsky, and then answer questions and undergo online testing, where they will correlate the names of famous fairy tales with their authors. At the end of the lesson, students will analyze and compare the texts of V.A. Zhukovsky and A.S. Pushkin.

In the lesson script “Zhukovsky V.A. “Cup”” for pupils of the fifth – ninth grades, pupils will analyze the ballad of Friedrich Schiller, translated by the poet, “Diver”. The children will combine words with the proposed illustrations, watch a video clip and answer questions. They will also have to arrange the events of the work in chronological order and complete tasks in the format of the Unified State Exam.
