In the village of Kamenolomni, Rostov Region, servicemen of the Guard of Honor company of the Southern Military District (YuVO), together with the pupils of the Yunarmeysky movement of the Oktyabrsky Region of the Region, laid flowers and wreaths at the monuments “Fallen Soldiers” and “Eternal Flame” The musical accompaniment of the event was provided by the military band of the 150th motorized rifle division of the Southern Military District.

On this day, in all formations and military units of the Southern Military District, commemorative events were held at the memorials and monuments to the fallen heroes, as well as video lectures and online meetings on the topic of children’s participation in the Great Patriotic War.

February 8 – Memorial Day of the young anti-fascist hero. This day was approved by the UN Assembly in 1964, in honor of the dead participants in anti-fascist demonstrations – the French schoolboy Daniel Feri in 1962 and the Iraqi boy Fadil Jamal in 1963.

On the same day, February 8, but much earlier in 1943, the Young Guard heroes Oleg Koshevoy, Lyubov Shevtsova, Dmitry Ogurtsov, Viktor Subbotin, Semyon Ostapenko were shot in the fascist-captured Krasnodon of the Luhansk region.
