On February 8, the elections of the President and Vice-President of the International Court of Justice took place in The Hague. Kirill Horatsievich Gevorgyan, a prominent Russian international lawyer, was elected Vice-President of the International Court of Justice.

Prior to his election to the Court in 2014, KG Gevorgyan held positions of responsibility in the Russian diplomatic service, including the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of the Netherlands in 2003-2009.

The election of K.G. Gevorgyan to such an honorary position in the main judicial body of the UN is a confirmation of his high authority in the Court and the prestige of the Russian international legal school in general. We are convinced that he will make an important contribution to ensuring the effective work of the International Court of Justice aimed at implementing the principle of the peaceful settlement of disputes.
