The head of IK-10 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan Sergey Kharkevich made a report on the work done in the main areas of the colony’s activities over the past year as part of a meeting with the heads of rural settlements, heads of budgetary institutions and organizations of the Mendeleevsky municipal district of the republic, chaired by the head of the district Valery Chershintsev.

The speaker said that IK-10 in the city of Mendeleevsk will be redesigned into a strict regime correctional colony for those first convicted of imprisonment.

In addition, in his speech, he paid special attention to the issues of production activities and labor adaptation of convicts. So, Sergei Kharkevich noted that in 2020 a new educational program for convicts by profession “Cook” was introduced in the institution, a classroom was created, equipped with visual agitation and the necessary equipment, where practical classes will be held.

Also in the production area of ​​the institution, a class has been opened where convicts receive theoretical knowledge and practical skills in working with sewing equipment.

Currently, IK-10 operates woodworking, sewing, sections, a workshop for metal products, and agricultural production.

Active work is underway to expand the range of products, increase production volumes, employ convicts, and create new jobs.

The head of the colony recalled that the institution has free production areas, labor and a protected area where mutually beneficial cooperation with entrepreneurs can be organized.

The meeting participants were able to familiarize themselves with the products of IK-10 at an exhibition organized within the walls of the administration of the Mendeleevsky district.
