The first week of the Moscow Pedagogical Forum ends. She was dedicated to mathematics and computer science. More than 17.5 thousand teachers from all over Russia have connected to the online broadcasts.
Most of the participants – over 5.6 thousand people – attended the events on February 11. Topics discussed were teaching computer vision, the role of mathematics in pre-vocational education, and methods for solving Olympiad problems.
Experts are gathering for the first time in order to build a dialogue with teachers about the content, methods and forms of teaching, the modern school, as well as form practices and lay the foundation for future teaching standards. Natalia Kiseleva, Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of Education and Science, Elena Bunina, General Director of Yandex in Russia, Head of the Laboratory for the Popularization and Promotion of Mathematics of the V.A. Steklov of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolai Andreev, Svetlana Yun, head of educational programs at the Samsung research center “I choose a profession in IT”, scientific director of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence Ivan Yashchenko and others. Experts held several master classes, discussed new methods in teaching exact sciences, raised questions of preparing schoolchildren for exams and shared their personal experiences.
The forum was also evaluated by third-party experts. Thus, Maria Lazutova, Chairperson of the Commission on Education, Science and Culture of the Public Chamber of Moscow, noted that the first week of the forum showed its timeliness and relevance, as well as the desire to enable teachers to quickly respond to the existing achievements of the capital’s education.
“Every day you could ask questions and get answers to them, see how the professional portfolios of teachers are replenished, how they are interested and with great benefit for themselves comprehend new interesting pedagogical methods, ideas, meanings, educational aspects of teaching schoolchildren in such a difficult science as mathematics. … This event is a good application for a new format of openness in Moscow education, an application for the desire to enable teachers to quickly and timely respond to existing results and achievements, to current challenges, which allows them to more freely navigate in innovations in teaching, much ahead of their time “, – added Maria Lazutova.
Program schedule and links to broadcasts are available on the website “School of the Big City”… The next week of the forum will be devoted to literature and foreign languages, and then there will be an open conversation about natural, social and artistic-aesthetic sciences, sports and health-improving disciplines, as well as teaching in primary grades.
