The engineer regiment of the Southern Military District (YuVO) in the Kuban received the UR-83P portable demining units.

The installations are designed for making passages 6–12 m wide in minefields consisting of anti-tank anti-track and anti-bottom mines with a pin target sensor, as well as anti-personnel high-explosive mines of pressure action.

Also, the UR-83P is used for promptly making passages in mine-explosive obstacles for tank patrols and motorized rifle units conducting reconnaissance on the front line of defense.

In the near future, the installations will be used at the camp gathering of the engineering and sapper units of the Southern Military District at the Molkino training ground, where the servicemen will have to use overhead charges to work out the destruction of anti-tank mines, surprise mines, improvised explosive devices and camouflaged stretch marks.

To neutralize the combined minefields equipped with a conventional enemy, military engineers will use the UR-83P Zmey Gorynych demining units, which are installed on mobile wheeled platforms of KamAZ-5350 vehicles.
