More than 200 crews of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles from the formations and units of the Central Military District compete in the qualifying competitions of the army contests “Tank Biathlon” and “Suvorov Onslaught”. The best military personnel will have the right to represent the Central Military District in the all-army stage of Army-2021.

Practical training takes place at training grounds in Siberia, the Urals and the Volga region. Crews fire at targets from the weapons of modernized T-72B3M tanks and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles at maximum ranges, temporarily overcome the route with natural and artificial obstacles: a mound, a fire strip, an anti-tank ditch with a passage, a mock track bridge. There are about 10 obstacles in total.

The correctness of overcoming the route and obstacles, as well as the accuracy of shooting, are controlled using video cameras on the track, sensors on targets and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The Central Military District is deployed in the Volga, Ural and Siberian federal districts and 29 constituent entities of Russia. The district structurally includes several foreign objects: the 201st military base on the territory of Tajikistan, the Kant airbase in Kyrgyzstan, as well as units on the territory of Kazakhstan.
