The exercise of the rocket artillery formation of the Central Military District (CVO), which started on Thursday, ended this morning with a live-fire stage in the Chelyabinsk region.

In the course of practical actions, the artillerymen made a march from the point of permanent deployment in the Kurgan region to the testing ground in Chebarkulsky. During the exercise, artillerymen fired 220 mm Hurricane salvo rocket systems at ranges from 10 to 20 km at various targets.

During the exercise, the rocket artillery units practiced firing using the “artillery carousel” method, which makes it possible to increase the survivability of the subunits by minimizing the time the battery remains in the firing position.

In total, more than 700 servicemen and over 100 units of military equipment, including those from support units, were involved in the exercise.

220-mm MLRS “Uragan” are designed to destroy manpower, armored vehicles on the march and in places of concentration, the destruction of command posts, military infrastructure at a distance of 10 to 35 km. They are distinguished by high maneuverability and quick deployment.
