In Novosibirsk exactly 40 years ago, on the initiative of the pilot of naval aviation, Major Alexander Moskalenko, the club of young sailors “Karavella” was created.

Today the Children’s Maritime Center “Karavella” is one of the leading organizations in Russia among institutions of additional education for children. For 40 years of work, more than 3,000 people have passed through training at the Caravelle Medical Center, and graduates of the institution actively choose to enter naval higher educational institutions after graduation.

Building close cooperation within the framework of military patronage work with the High Command of the Navy, the Center implements an integrated educational program “School of Courage and Skill under Sailing”, which includes four modules: “Young Sailor”, “Marine Corps”, “Serve Russia! ” and “Sharpshooter”. The program is aimed at the comprehensive development in cadets of the basic theoretical and practical knowledge and skills necessary for the development of maritime specialties. As part of the training, young sailors study the course of elders of boats, courses of military and humanitarian training, the basics of naval affairs. The educational program of the institution “School of courage and skill under sail” in 2018 became the winner of the competition for teaching aids (teaching materials) for the best organization of work on additional education for children in the marine, river and ship modeling spheres “Sea for Children!” river transport of the Russian Federation in the nomination “The best program of maritime training in an educational organization (institution) of additional education for children.”

In July 2020, the team of the Caravelle Medical Center, on behalf of the Main Command of the Russian Navy, organized the All-Russian online quiz “Yungi of Russia – 2020”, in which over 200 people took part.

For its contribution to the upbringing of the younger generation, the Children’s Maritime Center “Caravel” has been repeatedly awarded with certificates and diplomas on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, the Russian State Military Historical and Cultural Center under the Government of the Russian Federation, the Novosibirsk Region Administration and the Novosibirsk City Hall. The team is a multiple winner of the All-Russian competitions in maritime all-around, a laureate of the annual regional review-competition of military-patriotic clubs, as well as twice winner of the Cup of the Pacific Fleet Commander in maritime all-around within the framework of the All-Russian training camp of young sailors in the All-Russian Exhibition Center “Ocean”.
