At the Kamyshinsky training ground in the Volgograd region and the Engels airfield in the Saratov region, under the leadership of the Deputy Commander of the Airborne Forces, Major General Anatoly Kontsevoy, a tactical exercise with units of the Kamyshinsky separate guards air assault Don Cossack unit with landing and combat firing began.
In total, more than 600 servicemen and about 50 units of military and special equipment, 8 Il-76MD aircraft and two front-line Su-24 bombers are involved in the exercise, which will be held from 15 to 18 February this year.
On February 15, after receiving a signal to bring the formation’s subunits to the highest degree of combat readiness, having carried out all the necessary measures, they moved on standard equipment to the concentration areas and the Engels take-off airfield in the Saratov region, where they began to plan future actions, organize interaction and prepare equipment for landing.
In the future, to carry out the tasks of capturing the elements of the airfield and holding it on the Danilovskaya landing site in the Volgograd region, an advanced detachment of over 350 servicemen of a reinforced parachute battalion and three BMD-2K-AU units with accompanying crews making a jump following for the technique.
In the future, after the assembly at the landing site, the personnel will carry out the tasks of capturing the elements of the airfield of the imaginary enemy and will hold it until the main forces of the formation approach. After completing the assigned task, the units of the formation will march on standard equipment to the Kamyshinsky training ground in the Danilovsky district of the Volgograd region to complete the tasks of organizing and conducting a defensive battle.
On February 18, units of the formation will conduct a live firing stage in defense of a reinforced parachute battalion from the standard armament of the BMD-2K-AU, T-72B3 tanks, AK-12 assault rifles, PKM and Pecheneg machine guns, RPG-7D grenade launchers, sniper weapons with the support of artillery units, which will fire from 120-mm self-propelled artillery guns 2S9 “Nona-S” and a battery of 122-mm howitzers D-30. The actions of the units will be carried out with the support of the Mi-28N “Night Hunter” helicopters of the Aerospace Forces.
In the course of practicing actions on the landing site and at the stage of live firing, units of unmanned aerial vehicles “Orlan-10” will be widely used for conducting aerial reconnaissance of the enemy and adjusting artillery fire.
