The size of the awards reaches one million rubles in each category. If the prize is awarded to a team of authors, the money is divided equally between them.

Sergei Sobyanin presented the Moscow City 2020 awards in the field of physical culture, sports and tourism. 26 people received them. According to the Mayor of Moscow, sports and tourism are among the spheres that have been hit hardest by the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

“I am very glad that even in this difficult time, our athletes participated in both international and Russian competitions and won two and a half thousand medals. This is, of course, a huge success. But it is even more gratifying that Muscovites were still engaged in mass physical education and sports – in children’s sports schools, in open areas, in sports and entertainment centers, and parks. And of course, the opportunity to engage in physical education and sports is the best cure for all diseases, a means of maintaining a sports mood, good physical shape and mood, ”said Sergei Sobyanin.

Summing up the development of the tourism industry, the Mayor of Moscow said that in 2020 the capital was visited by 13 million people. This is more than it was in 2010, when there was no pandemic. The hoteliers’ work did not stop, despite all the difficulties and limitations.

“We helped both restaurants and the hotel business go through this difficult period by ordering certain services that, by the way, the business still receives in the form of orders from Moscow, for example, for keeping doctors in hotels and meals for doctors in hospitals,” added Sergey Sobyanin.

The awards in the field of physical culture, sports and tourism were established in 2003. They are awarded for the most significant events and works aimed at:

– health promotion and organization of active recreation of citizens, the formation of their need for physical improvement and harmonious development of the individual;

– involvement of children and youth in regular sports;

– development and implementation of promising methods in the system of physical education of citizens;

– implementation of financial and investment policy in the hotel and tourist complex of the city;

– development and improvement of the quality level of tourism infrastructure;

– clarification of the tourist opportunities of the city of Moscow and the improvement of forms of tourist and excursion services.

“It is very pleasant that our work does not go unnoticed. And this stimulates further exploits, to further achievements “, – said Viktor Pyatakov, senior coach of the sports school of the Olympic reserve” Russian ski school “Capital” “of the Moscow Department of Sports.

Alexander Novozhilov, president of the Moscow Basketball Federation, said that last season the capital’s basketball players won all gold medals in 10 all-Russian competitions and championships. “This is the maximum achievement, we will continue to work to keep it,” he added.

In 2017, at the suggestion of Sergei Sobyanin, the amount of awards was increased to one million rubles in each nomination. If the prize is awarded to a team of authors, the money is divided equally between them.
