The World Bobsleigh and Skeleton Championship finished in Altenberg (Germany). Athletes of the Army’s Central Sports Club won silver and bronze medals at the tournament.

Army athlete Alexander Tretyakov won a silver medal at the World Championships in Altenberg. The soldier lagged behind the leading German Christopher Grothcher (3 minutes 46.31 seconds) by 0.28 seconds. The third place was taken by another representative of Germany, Alexander Gassner, who was 1.20 seconds behind his compatriot.

Warrant officer Yelena Nikitina won the bronze medal following the results of four attempts, behind the German Tina Hermann, who was 3 minutes 52.97 seconds behind, by 1.68 seconds. Jacqueline Lelling of Germany was second, 0.11 seconds back.

Also Nikitina and Tretyakov became the third in the team competition. The best result – 1 minute 55.41 seconds – was shown by Germans Tina Herman and Christopher Groetcher. The silver medalists were Jacqueline Lelling and Alexander Gassner, 0.14 seconds back. Our athletes lost 0.15 seconds to the winners and climbed to the third step of the podium.

In addition, the Russian team took the third place in the medal standings at the end of the World Bobsleigh and Skeleton Championships. All the medals of the national team were brought by army skeleton athletes. The first place was taken by the German team, which won five gold, silver and bronze awards. The second place was taken by the representatives of the USA, who took two “gold”.
